MESSAGE FROM THE TRIAD LEADERSHIP
TEAM
Hi all. Larry Childs has gotten formal permission from the
County to erect a new shed for a radio impound and also to sink some posts for a new
spectator fence that will be more permanent. We have been exploring our shed options and
should have one soon. It looks like the weather is finally letting up so there will be a
work party soon to get the shed up and other necessary chores.
On Sunday, March 12, the County sent their official sound
engineer up to the field to do a noise assessment at our property line. From the
preliminary results, he seems to think that our noise complaint is pretty much a
"non-issue." This however doesn't mean our troubles are over, but it does
relieve a good deal of tension!
Be sure to make the next meeting. Larry Frank will be giving a
slide presentation on the 1/4 Scale meet in Henderson. Larry is known for his great
photography, so it ought not to be missed!

REDS CORNER
BY ROB JENSEN
Well, I Now live entirely in a world of model airplanes,
and I can say it is great! My flying time is suffering a bit, but that's what I expected.
It is such a joy to get up every day and look forward to going to work! Anyway, enough
gushing, on to the fun stuff! In continuing with meeting demonstrations, this month we
will talk about Airfoil Design and Theory. This is often overlooked by the average
modeler. I can tell much about an aircraft's performance without ever seeing it fly by
noting the airfoil section and a few other basic parameters. Thinking about scratch
building? Don't know what section to use? Want to go faster or slower with the same power?
The airfoil more than anything is the heart of an airplane. So come to the next meeting
and learn more than you wanted or cared to know

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
FEBRUARY 20,2001
BY LARRY MILLER
The meeting was called to order by Rob Jensen at 7:30 PM. We
had 32 members present, Several new members introduced themselves and were welcomed to the
club.
Rob explained to the members some new ideas for the upcoming
flying season. We will be widening the pit area for greater safety; the spectator barrier
needs to be strengthened and more visible because people seem to be ignoring it. The new
impound area is also in the works.
The Treasurer's report was next followed by a report from the
Secretary. Doug Boucher gave a rundown on protecting and extending the life of our Astro
Turf. This can be achieved by spraying on a coat of ordinary exterior house paint.
Everyone agreed that this sounded like a good Idea and gave him the go-ahead. In addition
to coating the surface a white center line will be added and threshold lines will be put
at each end.
It was proposed that future Newsletters be delivered by E-mail
and posted monthly on the Web Site. This would save a lot of money on printing and postage
and will be more efficient. Of course, those of you without computers may still receive a
hard copy by snail mail.
The door prize was donated by Red's Hangar One Hobbies and the
drawing was held next followed by the 50/50 raffle with several other prizes also given
out.
Show and Tell was interesting with models brought in by Tom
Nowelsky, Rob Jensen, and Dave Stephens. Dave had several new combat planes he's about
ready to fly. Tom brought in his Sig Kadet .40 and Rob showed us his latest slow flyer-a
Pico Stik,
The evening was brought to close with a super demonstration by
Rob and his dad, Steve, on foam cutting.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.

BOARD MEETING
MARCH 6, 2001
This month's board meeting was held at Red's Hangar One
Hobbies at 7:30 PM. All future board meetings will now be held at this location. The dates
to be announced later if you would like to attend. Since Doug Boucher is in charge of
parties and entertainment for the year, he asked for a budget and one was given.
The second weekend of June will be the first scheduled fun-fly.
Doug and Larry Miller will put it together. It was originally scheduled for the first
weekend but the Dan Sullivan Scale Meet in Ukiah is traditionally held on that date so we
moved ours. More on this later. Several members mentioned that they would like to have
more pylon racing again this year so Robbie will be working on that. Well have a
class for high wing trainers this year and maybe electrics, too.
We took a break from our meeting to adjourn to the parking lot
to watch Rob and Bill Jones fly their slow flying electrics, in the dark no less. They
weren't hard to see, though. The parking lot lights were bright enough to allow night
flying,
Richard Lange gave us an update on the Web Site. Mike Beito is
to be commended on the fantastic job he has done with the site. Richard said that if Mike
had DSL, he could work on it a lot faster and easier, so we voted to help him pay for it
if he wants to get it, We're still looking for volunteers to be field marshals. Call any
board member to volunteer your services.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.

A REQUEST FROM THE EDITOR
BY GARY CHILD
We used to have a monthly section in the Newsletter for the
introduction of the members of the Club which was written by Jeff Costa. Jeff did a great
job interviewing a different member each month and submitting an article for us to read
and enjoy. I liked that section of the Newsletter, but due to Jeffs busy work
schedule he was unable to continue to submit his Member Profile each month. In an effort
to continue the work Jeff began, I would like to request that each member take a moment
and write your own Member Profile. Each month I will include one or more in the
Newsletter. I have included below a pattern that you may wish to follow. Either fill in
the blanks or use the questions as a guide to write about yourself and then either give it
to me at the field or e-mail your article to me for inclusion in an upcoming month's
Newsletter. . My e-mail address is gchild@investorstrust.com. I look forward to
learning more about each of you. If you have a digital photo, include it in your e-mail.
