Question: Please check any class that you would ACTIVELY support during the 2012 season:  (read carefully and please check all that appeal to you)
T-28/Corsair Beginner (same rules as 2011)
T-28/Corsair Expert  (same rules as 2011, but spec a faster prop, allow any pilot to fly)
A single airframe class faster than T-28, but slower than Reno 450 (limited changes allowed, DogFighter or something like it?)
A class open to multiple airframes.  Faster than T-28, but slower than Reno 450
A parkzone warbird class based off the Spitfire, BF-109, P-47 (limited changes allowed)
)  Reno 450 with a spec prop (to slow it down)
Reno 450 same rules as 2011
A single airframe class, as fast as Reno 450 (Dogfighter like, with limited changes)
)  A single airframe class, faster as Reno 450 (Dogfighter, but open to changes)
Q-500 Club rules, spec style class
I don't really care, let the WCF Board pick the classes

Hey guys,

Sorry to keep rehashing things again, but after talking to some folks, we felt the need to ask the same question, but in a different way. Please take a look at the above and vote, and add your comments below.

This racing for your benefit. The more the folks that organize the races understand our needs and wants, the better racing will become. Please be assured that before any permanent changes are made, there will be plenty of discussion here, at the field, at club & board meetings.

Cheers

Ok, I'll take a stab at this one.  I do fully realize this is not a vote, this is a way for the board to gain information on what the racers may want for next season ....  So they can decide on what to offer in the way of classes.

These are just my opinions and what I, myself, would be interested in racing.

I have had a great time with the T-28/Corsair class, but I think I would get bounced out next year.  So, I would like to see a T/28/Corsair "expert" class.

I would also like to see something in between the T-28/Corsair class and the Reno 450 class.  This could be a slowed down version of the current Reno birds, or something different.  I do think the current fast kits in the Reno class will start getting hard to come by ...  So, it might be time for something new and readily available?

But, whatever happens, I'll find a class (or two) to race next year!

The decisions will not be easy, but I think you guys are up to the task.  Once again, thank you to the WCF Club for such a great thing, pylon racing!

Jake has some very good points. I'm sure I'll be booted out of the T-28/Corsair class as a well, if not I'll remove myself and that's good I believe in order to promote growth and interest in that class. My interest in having a "bronze" warbird class is based on the sucess of our two current electric warbird classes. There's a strong interest for people to what to try thier hand at pylon racing the T-28 that they might already have in the hanger. My suggestion about having a parkzone "Spitfire" class is it seems like alot of people are buying these planes and they have that warbird interest. Whatever the membership decides to participate in I'm sure will be alot of fun reguardless.

Great input guys thanks. I think this info will make it easier when the club decides what to do for next year.

Let me start out with great season guys, I HEAR there were a lot of great heats! I emphasize “hear” because I unfortunately disappeared most of the season. The new baby is such a blessing but racing took a back seat most of the summer and my race attendance suffered. I plan on trying my best to be there as much as possible next season to secure my heat position of 4th. That being said, please take my opinion accordingly.

Whatever the outcome of the vote, I feel we should maybe take a slight step back and look back to the original intent of any club event. The goal and design is to draw together a unity and create camaraderie among all the members. I commend Red and other members for initializing and opening up discussions like this so that opinions can be shared and hopefully foster more participation.

Talking with a couple of you guys individually, I thought maybe introducing some type of team event involving whatever the most popular or voted aircraft as a new event. A possible suggestion could be paring one “expert” pilot with one “regular” pilot and combing their score to split that specific month’s prize entry. Obviously all pairing would be at random each month in hopes to create further camaraderie among those team members as well as to keep racing fair on all levels. Furthermore, by splitting a specific month’s earnings does not require a pilot to be present every month and still allow them the possibility to gain prize money.

Personally whatever class is decided upon, I would love to see as many flyers out there as possible. I personally feel we as club members have an obligation to support our own. All aircraft should be available to purchase locally (JPH) and not from some overseas company. Regardless of the outcome of these votes, I would like to see an affordable plane, more restricted, that is relatively easy to build as well as relative easy to loose because I too can splash a perfectly good airplane multiple times.

Either way, congratulations to this years winners, great flying everyone. I look forward to next season, plenty more laps to do boys!
