Hey guys,
             Just wanted to get this started early to give people time to discuss the topic. I was thinking that we should have a intermediate class for people that are coming out of the T-28 class to jump into. This class would be the Parkzone war bird class. I watched it at  the Woodland/Davis Aeromodlers club and it looked promising and fun. They would have to use stock props stock motor stock speed control with no sanding or clipping of the wing or tail you could also use optional retracts but would have to use a three cell battery. You could use the new corsair, p-47, spitfire, bf-109(discontinued), or the new mosquito. A lot of member in the club already have these airplanes and that's the purpose of this class is to get more of the members to participate. Let me know what you guys think or if you have any questions.

Hi Jacob,

I agree that the Parkzone Warbirds would make a good intermediate class.  Have to admit that it seems odd to include the Mosquito in that group since it is so different, but I'd love to see one mix it up with a field of several other types.

When we discussed the 2014 race season at the club meeting last night, we encouraged people to weigh in with their thoughts on what they would like to see regarding race classes and rules beyond just the Parkzone Warbirds.  Just thought I'd mention that here since I think that you are looking for broad feedback.

I really liked the idea of an endurance race that was proposed for 2013 but fell by the wayside.  At one time the proposal was that a "pro" would be teamed with a novice and each would have to complete a certain number of laps.  Sounded like a fun way to get people working together.

I'd also like to see a Quickie 500 race or two.  I know alot of them are out there, including a half finished one that Drew picked up.  I heard a few guys say that they were pretty loud so we might not want a whole season's worth, though.

      Like my dad said the mosquito has two smaller motors and I forgot to mention the Fw-190 would be allowed to compete. My dad and I will be out there tomorrow practicing this experimental class if anyone would like to come out and join us.

Hey that picture is up-side-down dontchano !! I still think we should have Quickie 500 & 40 size trainer racing like we did at the old field. They aren't any louder than two or three big nitro planes flying at the same time. And the new class you are talking about sounds good, too.

Parkzone wardbirds Class Rules
 
This is intended to be a intermediate class, to promote racing in general with specific limitations on the airframe and modifications to ensure easy participation. These airplanes may have electric retractable landing gear or fixed landing gear.
Airframe
Only stock ParkZone Warbirds are eligible ( ME-109, Fw-190, Corsair, Spitfire, Mosquito, P-47)
No modifications of any kind to the airframe (i.e. clipped wings or tail)
Decals may be removed and personal markings applied
Planes may be repainted
Races will consist of 10 laps around a 2 pylon course.
To receive credit for a lap, the contestant must fly such that any part of the
airplane must be outside of each pylon when it passes the pylons, and if a pylon is cut, that lap shall not be counted. In addition, a cut penalty shall be assessed for any flying over the designated sideline, pit, or spectator area or in “no-fly” zones clearly identified at a pre-race pilots’ meeting. If a pilot receives a single cut, then that lap shall not count and the pilot must fly another (eleventh) lap to complete the heat. A pilot who cuts twice in the same heat shall receive a score of zero points
Any aircraft may be inspected at any time by the race director(s)
Power Section
Stock ParkZone motors only
3S (11.1v) lipo only of any capacity
Stock propellers are required. The propeller shall be used in stock configuration except that it may be balanced be by removing material from the face of the heavy blade. Any twisting, bending or tampering with the stock propeller is prohibited and will not be allowed during competition.
ESC must retain factory default timing settings

   Just as a reminder for upcoming Wine Country Racing your airplane needs to weigh a minimum of 3.5 pounds for the EF-1 class. Your battery voltage cannot exceed 14.9
