A big thanks to Adam Clement for loaning me his FW 190, which allowed me to continue racing on Sunday after my Mustang "intersected" a pylon. Great sportsmanship Adam!

I say the more the merrier.
. I had the plane there. We only had three racers. Jeff was not really in the points race but Jon was. I could have let him collect no point's and passed him in points
. I would rather earn my points by racing with a full field.
. I'm glad I could help out a fellow racer.

Hello everyone,
Did anyone happen to copy or save the speed secrets that Red posted, before he got pissed off
and deleted them all? I was hoping to maybe learn something, and not be so damn slow. Maybe
someone else could re-post them?
They were posted to a public forum so it wouldn't seem unethical. Then again, perhaps I'm wrong
and that would violate forum etiquette.
Just wondering.
Thanks, Dave

Hey Dave,
Sorry to say only Red can post his ideas back online. In the T-28 class the few things that can help you are 1. Make Sure your prop is balanced. 2. Running a higher C discharge rate will increase you speed. You should go with a 30c -35c rating, although by next year they will probably going to be higher.3. Practice. Running a tighter coarse will in turn produce faster lap times. Go to the field and set the poles up and practice.4. Practice your starts. a good start will put you in a great position to win. In t-28 it is a great advantage to be at the line at the start. You can see that all the planes are the same except batteries. I know spending money sucks
but to win. I finally broke down and got some 30c helped me go alot faster in warbird. The new plane helped a little also. LOL
. Get out there and Practice. Just look at Phil in 8th place. He stuck in there and showed up and raced getting better every race. So don't worry I'm sure by next season you will be ripping with the rest of us. Don't forget you missed a bunch of races and are still in 10th.
Until next time

Adam,
Thanks for the reply. I agree that practice, practice, practice would be the best way for me to
improve. I just never got a chance to check out the "speed secrets" that were posted, and was
curious if some setup tips, or flying tips were mentioned that might be informative.
This is my first year trying Pylon Racing so I'm kinda just wingin' it.
I've got alot to learn. But overall I haven't done too bad.
I've only lawn-darted the damn thing once...... and clipped some vines......and a tree,
But it's all been great fun !!
There's still one more race to get more points !!
Maybe next year I'll be mixin' it up with the fast guys.
Thanks, Dave

Patrick,
Thanks for re-posting that info !!
Wow!! Lots of great info there. I hope
all that info stays up there, as I need to
read it, and read it again, several times, to
let it all sink in.
I'm sure some of that stuff was common knowledge
to you fast guys, but it was all very enlightening to me.
Now I need to get some practice time in, and tweak my
radio setup, airplane setup, and flying techniques.
Of course just flying more often wouldn't hurt either.
Practice, practice, practice.
Thanks again, Dave M

Hi Jon,
Since you're on-line, maybe you'd know the answer to this.
I realize that most of the mods, if not all, relate to the warbird
class...... but, are prop mods allowed in the T-28 class?
Not radical changes, but maybe prop "massaging", like sanding,
smoothing, etc.
Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.

:oAs far as I know, prop mods are not allowed in the T-28 Class. I do balance my prop, and also test it on the plane to make sure there are no vibrations. I have found that a perfectly balanced prop can still vibrate once mounted, and the cause is the prop adapter. Rotating the prop to different position on the prop adapter untill there are no vibrations at any throttle setting will solve that problem. As mentioned before here, I think the biggest keys to winning are being very comfortable with the airplane, using at least a 30c battery, having the control throws and exponential settings dialed in, and flying the course as tight as possible.
