1  General Category / General Club Discussion / Re: 2012 Pylon Racing Classes!!!!!!!!! on: January 22, 2012, 08:57:01 AM
Great news guys, thanks for the post Adam and your dedication to getting more racers involved. Im glad to hear that the classes are starting to get finalized.

Concerning the Dogfighter class, since the power setup is still limbo, maybe a tad slower setup will encourage more of the novice crowd. I know the few planes I have seen fly are already pretty hot and are not much different than the old reno class. Good thing about all the multiplex lines are their durability and their ability to be repaired. Anyways, you guys know best, looking forward to the results.

Glad to hear that the classes are getting narrowed down, good work. As far as slowing down the Reno 450, what size prop are we going to use? Is this the only modification to the class?

Let me start out with great season guys, I HEAR there were a lot of great heats! I emphasize “hear” because I unfortunately disappeared most of the season. The new baby is such a blessing but racing took a back seat most of the summer and my race attendance suffered. I plan on trying my best to be there as much as possible next season to secure my heat position of 4th. That being said, please take my opinion accordingly.

Whatever the outcome of the vote, I feel we should maybe take a slight step back and look back to the original intent of any club event. The goal and design is to draw together a unity and create camaraderie among all the members. I commend Red and other members for initializing and opening up discussions like this so that opinions can be shared and hopefully foster more participation.

Talking with a couple of you guys individually, I thought maybe introducing some type of team event involving whatever the most popular or voted aircraft as a new event. A possible suggestion could be paring one “expert” pilot with one “regular” pilot and combing their score to split that specific month’s prize entry. Obviously all pairing would be at random each month in hopes to create further camaraderie among those team members as well as to keep racing fair on all levels. Furthermore, by splitting a specific month’s earnings does not require a pilot to be present every month and still allow them the possibility to gain prize money.

Personally whatever class is decided upon, I would love to see as many flyers out there as possible. I personally feel we as club members have an obligation to support our own. All aircraft should be available to purchase locally (JPH) and not from some overseas company. Regardless of the outcome of these votes, I would like to see an affordable plane, more restricted, that is relatively easy to build as well as relative easy to loose because I too can splash a perfectly good airplane multiple times.

Either way, congratulations to this years winners, great flying everyone. I look forward to next season, plenty more laps to do boys!
