Should Turbine Powered Aircraft be Allowed to Fly at the Wine Country Flyers Field? |
Wednesday, 31 January 2018 |
To All Members,
It was proposed at the last general meeting to allow one of our members to operate his turbine powered jet model at our field.
As far as I know this is a first for our club. And I am not opposed to this activity, but this is a big step for our club and some of our
members have raised their concerns regarding this type of activity.
Some of the questions I have are the noise level of a jet turbine, is our runway fire resistant to a hot jet exhaust, fire danger and is our field large enough
to handle a turbine jet? I f you haven't already, check out You Tube under model turbine jets.
I think it would be a good idea to have a discussion regarding turbine activity at our next general meeting.
I would urge all of our members to attend the general meeting on Feburary 22 to voice your concerns pro and con.
It would be in your best interests for any one who wants to fly a turbine at our field to attend the Feb. meeting to answer any questions that
the membership may have. A show and tell of the proposed model would be helpful.
I will make a motion to either allow or restrict our field to turbine operations and it will be up the membership to decide.
Turbine flying at the WCF field is not permitted until the membership has voted on this issue.
Thanks,
Jake Chichilitti, WCF President

We had a great turn out at the recent night fly. Thanks to Steve Koll for hosting the event, setting up the grill and supplying dogs & buns!
